‘I AM HERE TO WIN’ – NEW SUPER EAGLES COACH STATES

Gernot Rohr will be guiding the Nigerian national team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Qualifying games will commence on October 3 when the Super Eagles face Zambia, and will also go head-to-head with Algeria and Cameroon.

‘I am enthusiastic to get to work. This is a big challenge because Nigeria has big players everywhere and has the ability to do well internationally.

‘I have a German heart – the heart of a winner. I have confidence that with the right atmosphere and the right support, the Super Eagles have the capacity not only to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, but get to the latter stages of the competition.’ Rohr affirmed as he takes on the challenge.

The presentation held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, with Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi in attendance.

Pinnick added, ‘We are happy that this has been sealed and we can now focus on other arrangements for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers starting in October.’

Gernot Rohr, who is a former German defender and has coached teams such as Gabon, Niger and Burkina Faso, as well as French club sides Bordeaux, Nice, Ajaccio and Nantes, will be the man charged with Super Eagles’ success for the next two years.

His first game will be against Tanzania in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in the final 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

We wish him well!
