Reekado Banks might just never justify his Headies win

Reekado Banks
I am scared for Reekado Banks. Yes, really scared.
It is no longer news the ruckus and controversy the Mavin Records singer’s Next Rated win at the 2015 Headies generated.
I was one of the few who defiantly rooted for him from the moment the nominees list was revealed – yes, most were willing to pull their hairs if Lil Kesh didn’t win – but now, I’m skeptical.
NET Premiere: Reekado Banks – Standard
Since that infamous moment, the singer has polarized opinions with new releases, ‘Oluwa Ni’ and ‘Standard’, while Kiss Daniel‘s grand statement with the release of his impressive debut album, New Era has inadvertently leftReeky Tom Tom needing to justify his win.
Reekado’s yet-to-be-titled album has been slated for an August release, but it runs the risk of getting lost among a flurry of high-profile releases like Adekunle Gold‘s album and Patoranking‘s God Over Everything.
None of Reeky’s singles, though impressive, have been able to capture the brilliance expected from a singer of his talent and IF he misses the mark with his debut, he can go from being the industry’s golden boy to apassenger in a blink of an eye.
His boss, Don Jazzy however appears to be excited about the project as his recent tweet shows, and I can only hope it is not one of his‘Egbon listen, if you’re not impressed, go and sing your own’ moments.
Reekado’s album tho.

I hope I am wrong as we wait…
