The English football team on Monday night suffered a 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the ongoing EURO2016 competition.
Following the loss, Roy Hodgson, announced his retirement as manager of the team, BBC reports.
“I’m sorry it will have to end this way but these things happen,” Hodgson said at the post match press conference.
“I hope you will still be able to see an England team in a final of a major tournament soon.
Now is the time for someone else to oversee the progress of a hungry and extremely talented group of players. They have done fantastically, and done everything asked of them,” he added.
This is coming barely a day after Lionel Messi resigned from international football following his team’s loss to Chile in the Copa America final game. Click here if you missed it.
