While Nigerians remember with fondness, the memories of the two great ex coaches of the Super Eagles who passed on within days of each other, the football supporters club has shown them honour.
An interfaith prayer session was held by the Nigeria Football Supporters’ Club on Wednesday in honour of the late former Super Eagles coaches Stephen Keshi and Shaibu Amodu at its headquarters in Surulere, Lagos.
Pastor Badmus Olarenwaju of Faithfulls Church of God, Idi-Iroko, Lagos, said although the two coaches lived a very short life and left when their services is most needed, their achievements would be remembered for many years.
Quoting from the Book of Ezekiel, he stated that it is not how long one lived on earth that matters but how well he lived even as he reminded people to always remember that they came to the world empty and empty will they go.
Olarenwaju said the death of the two illustrious sons of the country should make people think about their lives.
Alhaji Ridwa Hammed of Olaribigbe Central Mosque, Mushin, Lagos, explained that their death is an indication that people should be prepared at all times because death is inevitable.
The two religious leaders later in their separate prayers asked God not to allow Nigeria suffer such a loss again and also committed all members of the club in the hands of God.
President-General of the club Rafiu Ladipo explained that the club embarked on the prayer session because of their respect for the two coaches.
He said, “We are still in shock by the death of the two coaches because they were too dear to our members when they were at the national team.”
